I have not, till now, put any images of Barcelona in my blogs. But this morning’s NY Times offered this pic. I copied it, picnik-ed it and now I am blogging it. (posted later) I just read that the reason this pic was in today’s NYT is that there are fears that building a rail tunnel under the Sagrada Familia may threaten it’s physical viability!!!!

Yes I was born in Barcelona, but I am completely Canajun. My father and mother moved to Barcelona in April ‘23 when he became assistant Branch Manager of the Royal Bank branch there. When I was born in October, 1935 he was Branch Manager and neither he nor I knew that I would leave Spain before I was 1 year old and that he would stay there through most of the Civil War until the end of ‘38.

So I do have Barcelona on my mind, especially since a few years ago when I began to piece together my life story. It all began in December ‘98 when I had a 2hour some lunch with my sister Helen. She died about 6 months later. But Helen was the first person to give me more info about my life in Spain, about my keeper there, Pensa and about our times in Spain and France until June ‘40 and the hasty retreat away from “fallen” France over the beach at Bayonne!
