Ethnonym, a word you don’t see often

The definition according to the Free Dictionary is: The name of a people or ethnic group.
An example is Han Chinese usually referring to the main ethnic grouping in greater China.
In the middle of the current brouhaha about Tibet, this rarely used word popped up today in an NY Times editorial contribution about the long term government connection between traditional China and Tibet.
