When will the last word be printed about “most expensive real estate”? In this age of wholesale foreclosures and crashing housing prices, you could expect that there wouldn’t be much to say about most expensive. Well in this cockeyed world you would be wrong!
Here is a quote from NY Times:
By all accounts, the $150 million price tag makes The Manor “the most expensive property in the United States.” Coincidentally, singer Mariah Carey reportedly made an offer on a Beverly Hills chateau-style estate which had been listed at $125 million (€94.1 million), which supposedly made it the “most expensive.” Of course, neither compares to the €500 million (about $656 million) price tag that has been reported for Villa Leopolda, Lily Safra’s estate on the French Riviera.
And I thought Villa Leopolda was sold and no longer owned by Lily Safra! But that just shows again how much I don’t and probably will never really know about such an esoteric subject!

Lily Safra is the former owner of La Leopolda. I have posted about the recent sale of that property which is reputed to be the most expensive transaction at about $750 million take or leave a million or so. Since that posting garnered several hundred viewers, I thought it would be interesting to post a photo of Lily Safra since they seem to be rare happenings.
Here is the link to a recent Forbes magazine about Lily S

The other day it was a post about the sale of the most expensive private property that got most viewers. La Leopolda, that is in Villefranche on France’s Mediterranean coast, sold for somewhere in the $750 million USD by one Lily Safra, a rather wealthy widow to Roman Abromavich, a Russian petrobillionaire.
Today my post about Roger Federer’s win of an Olympic Gold medal along with his partner, Wawrinka, got the attention of 175+ blog viewers to push my blog’s daily viewership to the best ever.
Thx to my viewers!

It’s being reported that this gigantic villa, built originally by the “monster of the Congo” King Leopold of Belgium to house his mistresses, has been sold to the Russian billionaire, Roma Abromavitch for the gigantic sum of some $750 million USD.
And not his principal home, probably.
The selling of it took a while. The seller is Lily Safra, the widow of an ultra wealthy international banker who died in weird circumstances in what was described as a palatial penthouse in Monaco.
Ted Maher, who was a key figure in legal proceedings after the penthouse fire, was in prison for at least 8 years. Today he is divorced and seriously estranged from his family. If you want to read more Google his name.
