Is Maureen Dowd mocking Sarah P or calling their bluff?

Since the McCain camp of raging advisors won’t give Obama any room on the “lipstick and pig” thing, what might they say about this delicious thought from Maureen D’s column this AM:

Sarah, who is now so renowned that she is known merely by one name and has a name ID of 90 percent, has to be a Kmart mom who appeals to Kmart moms and dads. She’s already shown that she can shoot the pig, put lipstick on it, bring home the bacon and fry it up in a pan. Now all she has to do is also prove that she can be the leader of the free world on a moment’s notice, and field dress Putin as adeptly as she can a moose.

And TPM explains the real irony about the McCain Camps sensitivity to the lipstick and pig thing:

The McCain campaign may be decrying Obama’s use of the “lipstick on a pig” line, but it turns out that a woman who wrote a book called Lipstick on a Pig actually worked as a flack for none other than McCain.

And what does all of this nonsense have to do with the issues in this campaign? Absolutely nothing since the issues aren’t what the election is about. It’s about whose image is more acceptable to which key demographic in the special battleground states for electoral votes. It’s a pure vote twisting play as it has been since Reagan ran for Prez all those years ago. Say anything and obfuscate the opponents well enough to play on the minds of voters in key demographics and key electoral states.

So I guess any mocking of Sarah P is deserved and not less than she should expect!
