Thoughts about things on the web

A day ago or so Marc Cavendish, the Manx dasher, made a hat-trick

Yes, he won his third stage and here is a photo record of that win and characteristic Cavendish HOORRAH at the end:

With the Tour moving into the higher climbs of the Pyrenees next week, it seems unlikely that we will see another Cavendish winning pose. But who knows? China’s CCTV Sport channel is paying a lot of attention to the Tour. I watched a good half hour of footage from Friday’s stage this Sat. morning in Dalian. The usually show one image of Lance on the road and today he did offer us a smile, tongue out and smirk!

I just viewed the first gallery of Tour images from Big Picture and here is the image I liked best.

  1. I’m really curious as to why Chinese TV is covering the Tour. Any idea why? I can’t think of any Chinese rider who has ridden the Tour, or indeed anywhere under UCI auspices. Still, I guess it is just so big that it is deemed worthy of coverage regardless. Jolly good.

Assuming he won’t be involved in a bunch sprint today (a bit too lumpy for him), Cavendish has just two more chances for a sprint win – stage 18 to Bordeaux is a classic flat transition stage, and then of course there is Sunday’s finale on the Champs-Elysees
