The Frowning Flower Girl

Amid all the pomp, circumstance, kissing and smiles, one image of a seemingly unhappy three year old came through the Internet, loud and clear! Apparently she kept her frown through most of the Royal Wedding event. Persistent too!

Time Magazine To Consolidate Global Editions, European Edition To Be Edited In New York

By Patrick Smith

– Thu 27 Nov 2008 05:26 AM PST

Following Time Inc’s announcement of 600 redundancies, Time magazine is reshuffling its global editions, a move that will take the editing of the EMEA edition from the magazine’s London bureau to its New York HQ, reports Keith Kelly of the New York Post.

Time told staff last week it was cutting 20 jobs, or two-thirds of its London-based Time Europe team, though the company says it will continue to have an editorial presence in London.

This kind of consolidation and reorg is in the cards for NY Times over the next 6 months or so.

Here is a quote from a “serious play” opening soon in London:

There’s a general sense of weirdness—wars which last for ever and are going nowhere, and policies which are nothing but rhetoric… they bear no relation to the facts….
—Gethsemane

My gosh that’s a fair but partial description of the “national security” world the West has been enduring since 9/11

BBC News has this report

Here’s the last paragraph:

But even the latest record may not last long. Asia’s richest man, industrialist Mukesh Ambani is expected to move into the 27-storey property he has built to house his family and offices in Mumbai next year.

With a value reported to be up to $2bn, the design was said to have be inspired by the Hanging Gardens of Babylon.
